America is Your Park! Vote for your favorite park!

Summer is right around the corner (despite the chilly temps and cloudy skies today in northwest Ohio!)...and what better way to have fun this summer than to spend your days playing at the park? Olivia and Emma absolutely love our neighborhood park - Olander Park - and the fact that is it basically across the street from our house, smack dab in the middle of our neighborhood makes it a perfect place to have some summer fun.

Coca-Cola thinks our parks are important too ... which is why for the third year in a row they are asking people to vote for their favorite parks in the America is Your Park campaign. The winning park will receive a $100,000 recreation grant from Coca-Cola (think what $100K could mean for YOUR favorite park!). The second place park will receive a $50,000 grant and the third place park will receive a $25,000 grant. And...a $15,000 grant will be randomly awarded to a park that comes in 4th to 25th place by the end of the contest.

So, how amazing does that sound?
Do you want to help your favorite park win?

To vote for your favorite park, visit this site https://apps.facebook.com/coca-colaparks/ and locate your favorite park on the map. Vote for your park and earn 1 vote. You can vote as often as you want! You can also earn 100 votes for your park each time you "check in" using the foursquare mobile app (also found on the site listed above)!

Voting has already started and continues until July 15! The winning parks will be announced in August.

So...get out there and PLAY at your favorite local park. And then, get online and VOTE for your favorite park! You can also spread the word using the hashtag #VoteParks. You can find all the information you need here https://apps.facebook.com/coca-colaparks/

Happy Summer!
Remember....voting runs until July 15!

[Rules for voting and check ins - There is no limit on the number of times each Voter may vote online.  Each Voter may check-in to a Park as many times as permitted by foursquare during the Contest Period.  As of the date of this writing, per foursquare guidelines, you are only allowed to "check in" once per 15-minute period, three times per hour and 28 times each day from any one location. Complete rules and FAQs can be found here: https://apps.facebook.com/coca-colaparks/]

Disclosure: I am partnering with Coca-Cola to spread the word about the "America is Your Park" campaign. Coca-Cola sent me an "America is Your Park" activity pack as part of our partnership. No other compensation was received. All opinions are mine.

When a "sick day" isn't really a sick day

Today I took a sick day from The Job.

I wasn't sick.

In fact, I woke up feeling great because I knew I didn't have to go to The Office.
I felt wonderful.
I wasn't stressed.
The migraine I've been dealing with all week was gone.

I was, in a word, HAPPY.

And yet, I still e-mailed The Boss and said "I'm taking a sick day. Have a great weekend."

Do I feel guilty about taking a sick day when there wasn't anything wrong with me?
Nope.
Not even a little bit.

After all, I AM sick of my office and all the nonsense that has been happening there for months.
That counts, right?
My job makes me sick. :)

So how did I spend my non-sick sick day?

Well...
I took Olivia to her golf lesson and watched her practice her chipping skills.
I ran some errands with my sister.
And, I spent three hours at the pool with my family.
We had a great time swimming, hanging out, eating ice cream.

It was the perfect non-sick sick day.
