It's been 10 years since Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris.
It seems impossible that it has been 10 years. Truly, it seems like it was only a few years ago.
10 years ago I was 24 years old, starting my 2nd year of law school and had not yet met my husband. It would be another 4 years until Kevin and I would meet (in 2001) and then marry in 2002. Olivia and Emma...they weren't even figments of my imagination at the time.
Isn't it amazing how quickly time flies when you're doing other things?
I remember exactly the night that Diana died. I was out at Doc Watson's with a group of friends from law school. My friend's husband called and told us about the accident and when I got home that night (late!) it was all over the news that Diana had died. I stayed up all night watching CNN and crying. Years before (in 1981) I woke up before dawn to watch her wedding. That week in 1997, I got up before dawn to watch her funeral.
10 years later, it is still sad and tragic.
wow, you are right. this was my first few days as a college freshman. and i'm with you on the time-flying business. i cannot believe that i'm gearing up for MY 10-year HS reunion. i NEVER thought i'd be that far away from high school. and, strangely enough, not feel old enough to be this far away from it. interesting thing....time.
ReplyDeleteI was at a freshmen orientation camp for UT. We were at the climbing wall when someone announced Princess Di's death. Tragic.
