Why I hate eating citrus fruit

I brought a tangerine to work today - to eat with my very healthy tuna fish for lunch. See, new year...new, healthy perspective.

It wasn't long before I remembered why I hate eating citrus fruit:
1. I have to peel it.
2. After peeling, it still has some of that white stringy stuff on it. YUCK.
3. Tangerines have seeds. At least 2 seeds per slice. Seeds that I have to spit out.

It's too much work to eat tangerines. Or oranges. This is why I never buy them. I should not have to work for my fruit.
So now, I have a peeled tangerine sitting on my desk, staring at me. I've eaten a few slices and have to keep spitting the seeds out (not exactly what one wants to be doing in her office at work).

I don't think I can bring myself to eat the rest of it.

  1. Plus they feel like you haven't eaten anything. So to me, its just extra calories. :)

  2. I agree regarding the tangerines. I would eat a good, ripe sunkist orange. It's more substantial. :-)

  3. I love to eat seedless oranges but you are right, it is annoying at work. Plus, I don't know about you, but I squirt juices everywhere...no matter how hard I try to stop it. Then everything is a bit sticky. boo

  4. Hey Traci! Happy New Year! I'm with you on the citrus - I hate getting my hands dirty. But, you should try clementines. They are super easy to peel (the skin is soft) AND, no seeds! You can eat about 4 of them for a serving, they're so small. And they burst with flavor. Yum. Clementines.
