Storm warning

Dear Mother Nature,

Suck it.

I was home alone tonight -just me and my two kids, no husband! - when you, wicked thing that you are, decided it was a good time to whip up some more nasty storms. Because you know, the storms that tore through northwest Ohio on Friday night weren't bad enough.

My 4-year-old...she's afraid of storms. She's still talking about how we "ran out of power" on Friday night. Tonight she saw the huge red storms on the TV screen and had a minor freak out. Top that off with the fact that her daddy wasn't home and we had a full-on crying jag.

Thankfully the 16 month old is too little to understand why we were once again headed for the basement. She just thought it was fun.

Well, let me tell you something -- watching "shear markers" swirl on your TV screen as they head directly for your city as you rush downstairs with two kids, two dogs and two cats (while your husband is on a golf course in Michigan, in the path of the same storms) is NOT fun.

It's scary. And stressful.

I used to think storms were "cool" and "fun". I don't really think that anymore. Now they just seem dangerous - one more thing from which my kids need protecting. Even the dogs were freaking out tonight -- shaking and crying as the storms blew through. Which, in turn, made me a bit more worried. I hate that.

So anyway, if it wouldn't be too much to ask...how about no more storms for a while. I think we're all a bit stormed out. And while you're at it...how about turing the temps down about 20 degrees.

Thanks.

p.s. - thank you so much for making us lose power at 2 a.m. last night. That was great. [Yes, we did get it back at about 3:30 a.m.]

  1. I second this rant. The thunder really makes it tough to keep Ms. Bee asleep. It's tough to keep her asleep without all that BOOMING, so QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
