Wow

At one point today the stock market dipped more than 800 points - the biggest one day drop ever -- beating last Monday's implosion. Right now, moments after the final bell, the Dow was at 10,015. As I type this, it has gone back down to 9962.03. So, essentially the Dow has closed below 10,000 for the first time in four years.

And so...the candidates are talking about the economy, right?

Oh surely you jest.

No, they're all throwing crap against the wall hoping some of it sticks.

Palin has been talking about Bill Ayers and spewing lies about how Obama is "palling around" with "terrorists" because according to Sarah, Obama and Ayers are friends. Yeah, she might want to hire some fact checkers.

Ayers was a member of the Weather Underground and was a radical during the Vietnam War. Obama...yeah, he was 9 (10 and 11) years old when Ayers and his cohorts participated in some antiwar bombings during the early 1970s. Sarah would have you believe that Obama was hanging out with Ayers and his friends. Please. How stupid does she think we are?

Yes, Obama and Ayers live in the same neighborhood in Chicago. They served together on a board or two. But are they friends? No. They aren't. And Obama is not a terrorist. Nor does he support terrorists - homegrown or foreign. To suggest otherwise is stupid. Stupid with a capital S.

And then my candidate decides to post a video about the Keating Five. Great. McCain was listed as one of the Keating Five. I get it. What else is there to say about that? Why not talk about the economy?

Oh and then this afternoon McCain calls Obama the "angry" candidate? What? I'm sorry I must have misunderstood that one. I think McCain forgot to drink his Metamucil today....he seems much angrier than anyone else. The best part of today's speech by McCain was this quote: "I don’t need lessons about telling the truth to American people," McCain will say according to prepared text sent out by his campaign. "And were I ever to need any improvement in that regard, I probably wouldn’t seek advice from a Chicago politician."

Wow. It appears that McCain has just slammed all politicians from Chicago. That's impressive. And Obama is the angry one?

This is McCain's 'plan' is right now: The new language is part of the McCain campaign's effort to move away from the country's economic crisis as the primary narrative on the campaign trail, aides told CNN's Dana Bash earlier Monday. McCain, the aides say, will try to reframe the economic issue into an overall theme that Obama is still a virtual unknown, and is not the right person to steer the country through its current financial turmoil. See CNN.com.

Yes, please, let's move away from the economy -- the ONE thing that everyone is worrying about -- and let's focus on a bunch of crap-filled zingers and angry one-liners.

This has turned absurd...all of it. Enough with the character attacks, please talk about something that is relevant.

Right now that is THE ECONOMY. In case the candidates haven't noticed, the economy is still in the toilet and will likely remain there for some time. So enough with the bullshit. Start talking plans.

I know I said I was going to not post much about the election, but I'm pissed off. And I'm venting.

  1. I was meeting with a client just last week and she was going on and on about how Obama is a terrorist and a radical. I just wanted to flip over the table and tell her to shove it but I really wanted to sell her a stupid ad. My blood pressure HAD to be spiking.

  3. gotta love this: the 100 year old woman my grandma eats with at the nursing home says today: "The news is saying Obama did something really bad." And so my g-ma tells my mom this and my mom has to explain to my 81 year old g-ma that, no, Obama didn't do anything bad....etc. Unreal. As if my g-ma isn't confused enough, yes, let's throw this into the fire and really screw things up.
