When filing for unemployment....

Yeah, it's a bit like this.

  1. haha! Love it. Do you know how anal I can be; If I don't like the way a letter looks on a hand written form I will redue it. I also do the same thing for grocery lists and on post-it notes. Sad really.

  2. WK - I used to be the same way. Don't know what changed, but I'm not AS particular.

And, TLC - Amen. Did you file online? I found that to be the easiest when I lost my job in December.... and a word of advice, find one person to talk to consistently if you have to call the unemployment office. Get their direct extension - then you won't have to wait on the phone for 2 hours until you get someone to talk to.

It sucks that you're going through this.

  3. # Dri: i did file online. and then i had to print out forms and send a bunch of documentation. it's a real pain. because i worked at BGSU i had to prove that i wasn't a faculty member who was just 'off for the summer' and trying to milk the system. so much red tape for just a little bit of money. ugh. good idea about getting someone's direct line! thanks!

  4. I had to do the same thing, TLC. Because I worked at Owens I had extra paperwork. That sucks, but I was pleasantly surprised after the first initial few days of paperwork, everything else went smoothly. I had no problems with the online process, just so much BS at the beginning. Hopefully everything will be in place sooner rather than later!

  5. OK, I'm not sure I've ever had to file for unemployment, but that does NOT sound fun at ALL!

  7. I didn't know you had to do extra paperwork working for a school. Sounds like it WOULD be a pain in the a#@.

  8. dri: i had no idea either. one guy i spoke w/ said "were you a student worker?" and i said, "uh no. i'm almost 37 years old...definitely not a student worker." his reponse: "oh, you sound a lot younger than that."

    i guess that's a compliment, right? haha.
