I didn't watch the debates last night -- I tuned in a for a few minutes and couldn't deal with all the hostility, so I tuned out.
Today, Hillary says this about my man Obama: WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday accused Barack Obama of "looking for a fight" in their rancorous debate and suggested her presidential rival acted out of frustration over primary campaign losses in New Hampshire and Nevada.
OK, seriously folks. Maybe he is a bit miffed about losing those 2 primaries, but this isn't kindergarten and I doubt Obama is of the "I'm taking my toys and going home now" mindset. I don't think he's going to walk into these debates thinking "Gosh, it sure would be fun to fight with Hillary again tonight. To hell with the issues."
I think his bigger frustration is that former Prez Clinton is misconstruing things that Obama is saying. I saw it for myself on GMA yesterday morning. Obama says one thing and Bill "reworks" it to make it sound worse.
That is just annoying. And it's dirty politics. And yes, politics can be dirty and ugly, but really...this election is too important for tactics like that.
Nobody goes into a debate looking for a fight, but I'm pretty sure that if it was me and I was being attacked like that, I'd put up a fight too.
And for some reason, this disturbs me (especially the part in bold):
The New York senator also defended her husband's aggressive criticism of Obama, saying it didn't contradict the former president's role as senior statesman and Democratic Party leader. Obama has recently complained about Bill Clinton's role in the campaign and suggested he has repeatedly misrepresented Obama's record.
"I can tell you that never crossed our minds. That's not how we think," she said. "It has absolutely nothing to do with a unified Democratic Party around a nominee and a full support for whoever our Democratic president will be. That is just the way it works."
Why does it bother me? Because she's using "we" and "our" as if she and Bill are interchangeable. I don't know...maybe it's just me. Or maybe it reflects a bigger issue - if Hillary wins, will she be in charge or will Bill be calling some shots from behind the "Oz-like" curtain?
Anyway...I just had to give my 2 cents.
Couldn't agree more. I have been pissed about all this too.
ReplyDeleteObama is just standing up for himself after Bill started twisting his words around and started twisting facts around to make the Clinton campaign look "better". B/c it is so close between the two the Clintons are getting their jabs in where ever they can. Ridiculous.
I am also afraid of your point about Hilary. When she first announced running she said it was HER campaign NOT Bills. However, she doesn't have as much support as she thought she would but the people like Bill and therefore she had to bring him in more. She is using him as her clutch for this campaign and to also try to bring Obama down. So stupid. As you said, I am also afraid WHO will really be the next President if she gets into the White House. Her or Bill.
I am also upset b/c as a women she doing something very historic and I hate that she is pulling this crap. She has a higher standard to live up to and I don't like the way she is handling herself. Whether you vote for her or not she is representing the direction of where women can go in the future in this country and I think she being very childish. Obama is handling himself very well.
I know it might seem just a little "can't we all just get along?" but I just wish they would FOCUS!! Let's worry about saving our country and getting rid of these people that have DEMOLISHED our economy!!! Please! No more playground fights!
ReplyDeleteyeah. seriously. focus is the key word. that's what they need to do.
ReplyDeleteAh, just the beginning...
ReplyDeleteI think that if one votes for Hilary, one should accept that one is by default voting for both Clintons.
Some argue that the male Clinton was the best president of our time...
This election is truly going to be interesting.
