My current mood:

I'll spare you all the gory details behind my mood.
Suffice it to say...I need (a) to win the lottery and (b) a vacation.

Half a billion reasons to buy a lottery ticket

All right. Let's think about this number for just one minute.
Half a billion dollars.
$500 million.
Can you even wrap your head around that?

That, my friends, is a whole lotta zeroes.

Oh yes, the Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at nearly $500 million. Half a billion (with a B!) dollars.

I like to dream about what I would do with $500 million (which after taxes, if I took it in one lump sum, would be about $350 million...but really, who's counting?)

First. I'd pay off my house. And my parent's house. And my sister's house. (My mom said she'd do the same thing if she won, so I can't very well say "too bad" if I win). Then, I'd pay off my obnoxious law school loan. Then I'd pay off our credit card debt (and cut them up because who needs credit cards when you're a gazillionarie!)

Then, after all the bills were paid I'd donate some money to charity. Because it's the RIGHT THING TO DO. And because I want to. Then, I'd set up college funds for the kids. And trust funds.

And then...

Well, then I'd buy a house here http://www.disneygoldenoak.com/ ... because then I would be living IN the Walt Disney World Resort area. Hello? I'd be living IN Disney. Can we say dream home? Yeah. That is just pure awesome. Oh and you get a Golden Oak VIP Pass too. Seriously.

And then I'd take a few vacations.
Italy.
Paris.
Bermuda.
Disneyland.
A two-week cruise somewhere.

Ah....to dream about being a multimillionaire.
It's so fun.

If I had a million dollars....

...I'd buy you a house.

Well, OK.
Not really.

I'd buy me a house.
In Golden Oaks.
And then I'd be able to live IN the Walt Disney World Resort.
And all would be right with the world.

This begs the question - how many of YOU bought a Mega Millions ticket today?
How many did you buy?

But most importantly what would you do with $355 million???

I have a short list of what I would do if I ever win the lottery:

1. Pay off my law school loans. Because honestly, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
2. Pay off our mortgage.
3. Pay off all our credit card debt.
4. Buy a house in Golden Oaks (see above).
5. Buy into the Disney Vacation Club.
6. Take a cruise. To Europe. So I don't have to fly over the ocean.
7. Donate to several charities.
8. Invest. (Because my dad is my CPA and he'd insist that we invest).
9. Pay cash for my kids' college education. In advance.
10. Never have to worry about bills/debts/loans again.

Before I would do any of that however, I would call in "rich" to work.

It would go something like this:

Me: Hi. It's me.
Boss: Hi. What's up?
Me: Well, I'm not coming into work today.
Boss: Why? Are you sick?
Me: No. I'm rich. I won the lottery last night.
Boss: Oh. Um....[awkward silence that lasts a few minutes]
Me: Don't worry...the organization is my list of places I'm donating $1million to.
Boss: Oh. OK! We'll miss you. Have fun counting your money.

***back to reality***

In all seriousness, it would be great to win the lottery.
Heck, I'd be happy with $1 million.
I'm not greedy.
I'd even share this $355 million with a few other lucky folks.
