Feel Good Friday - Today is a GOOD day

Let us revisit the last 10 months, shall we?

I have been unemployed since June 30, 2009...and yes, I realize that many of you know this because I NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT BEING UNEMPLOYED.

Whatever.
Sue me.
Unemployment, for those of you who have never been here, SUCKS.

It sucks a lot.
I'm talking major suckage.

So...I blogged the other day about "oh my gosh...someone liked my resume and no freakin' way...I have an interview on Friday!"

That one simple phone call right there could have been my 'one happy thing' for Feel Good Friday.

Until today at 2:30 p.m.

Because that's when I GOT A SECOND INTERVIEW for this job.
Yep, that's right kids...

The person interviewing me said this:
"You're the second person I've brought in for initial interviews and I'm only bringing back the ones who really impress me. And for the record, I'm very impressed."

And then we talked a bit more and then she said "So, how does Monday at 12:30 work for you for a second interview?"

Oh yeah.

Second interview for what has the potential to be a kick ass job.

And that folks is the HAPPY event that makes this a Feel Good Friday.

Feel Good Friday - Back in the saddle. Again.

Well what do you know? I actually blogged more than once this week.

It's darn near a miracle, right?

Oh yes. I'm back in the blogging saddle again.

So without further ado....my Feel Good Friday Top 5 things that made me happy this week.

1. Green
Normally, green is bottom on my list of favorite colors. Except during the early spring when all the brown, dead things in northwest Ohio start turning green. The grass is greener. The trees are sprouting leaves. Everything is turning green and it's lovely.

2. Spring Break
Olivia has been on spring break all week...which means we've been "sleeping in" (until 7:30!!), lounging around all morning and generally just chilling out. It has been a very relaxing week. We even made it to the zoo - despite Mother Nature's attempts to rain us out.

3. Countdowns
We have a tradition of creating countdown calendars whenever we have a family trip planned. And according to our current countdown calendar we have 15 days until we leave for Disney World. I cannot wait.

4. Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs
Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Need I say more?

5. You
Yes, you my dear readers. Thank you for sticking around even when I don't post for a week. Thanks for commenting and saying witty things (because you always do!). Thanks for visiting. :)

OK that's all for this Friday .... join in the fun, won't you?

Feel Good Friday - The Saturday Edition

Honest to goodness, I need to work on blogging.

It appears I skipped this entire week -- only posting one thing on Monday. Oy.

And, it wasn't a bad week. Or that busy. I have no excuse.

So, without further ado, my Feel Good Friday on Saturday.

In no particular order, these 5 things made me feel good this week.

1. Friends
It's funny how a glass of sangria, some tapas at Poco Piatti and a hour of good conversation with a good friend can make all the difference! I had been in a blah funk/mood for most of Tuesday (a serious lack of chocolate combined with a general frustration will do that to you) and after having dinner with a friend all was right again.

2. Spur of the moment decisions
So...we're taking the kids to Disney World next month. We decided last weekend - rather suddenly - that we were just going to do it! We had a good price on a complete package and well, we're going to Disney World! The girls are VERY excited. (So am I).

3. Party!
Tonight my sister and I are throwing our "New Moon" viewing party. We're having "Team Edward" (blue) and "Team Jacob" (red) Jell-o shots, a birthday cake (for Bella's birthday), and lots of other yummy foods. (Also for fun: muffins in honor of the wolf pack, marshmallows because Mike Newton is "a marshmallow" and Lemon Drop martinis because they are sunny and yellow...just like Jacob is Bella's sunshine.) Yes, we are total dorks. Thanks for noticing. :)

4. Naps
You know sometimes you just have to nap. For example, when it's cloudy and rainy and cold and dreary like it was on Thursday and you have a splitting headache and the kids are resting and you think "gosh, I could fold the laundry or just take a nap right here on this couch" and well, the nap wins out. Yeah. Naps rock.

5. Twitter
I am a huge fan of Twitter. I could go on and on...but let's just leave it at that. I love Twitter. And I love the #Disney community on Twitter.

OK...that's it. Feel Good Friday on Saturday.
See you next week!

And with that, I have to go deal with @VerizonSupport on Twitter. I am hating Verizon online right now - they are in the midst of some 'big switch' from VerizonYahoo! to verizon.net for email services and everything is an epic #FAIL.

Feel Good Friday - Yes, I know it's Monday

I know, I know. It's Monday.
I totally missed the whole 'feel good Friday' thing last week.

It was just one of "those" weeks (you know, I have a week like that almost every week).

I will admit, last week was not a good week. (The "lowlight" of my week was discovering that a job I REALLY wanted to be interviewed for had already been filled. And I didn't even get an interview.) I was in a bad mood for most of the week - for various reasons. And so when Friday rolled around, I didn't 'feel good' and chose to opt of out finding something that had made me 'feel good'. I apologize. (That sort of defeats the whole purpose of Feel Good Friday, right?)

And now it's Monday and I'm going to try to have a better week.

Even if I don't have a great week .... I will do a Feel Good Friday this week ... I will find something (or 5 things) that made me happy or made me smile.

After all, that's the whole point of Feel Good Friday.

I hope you all have a magical week.

Feel Good Friday - It's been a good week

Have you noticed how Friday just seems to sneak up on you?
I swear it was JUST Monday.

But I digress.

OK...so the title says "it's been a good week" - that might be a slight exaggeration. In reality, it's been an "OK" week. Not bad, but not great either. It's just been....meh.

But, I can find five things that made me happy this week:

1. Oh my goodness, spring might have sprung! Well, at least for a few days it did. It's been sunny, warm and lovely here in northwest Ohio this week. (Except, as I type this it's foggy and a bit 'cool' outside). The girls and I were able to go outside and color the driveway and ride bikes. And. It. Was. Lovely. [And I do realize it won't last. It's going to rain all weekend and be in the 40s. As it should be in Ohio in March. Oh well.]

2. Soft serve ice cream! There is a reason I can't lose weight in the summer. It's called Mr. Freeze - our local soft serve 'hot spot'. It really is the BEST soft serve ice cream. EVAH. (No, Disney folks, I'm not saying it's better than Dole Whip. It's in a whole different category.) Mr. Freeze is only open from March through October and of course, that means it's open now! We went the other night and let me tell you, that "white mountain sundae" was heavenly.

3. Funny girls! Thanks to the warm weather, my kids have a serious case of spring fever. Case in point - for the past two days they have been spending their days running around the house IN THEIR BATHING SUITS. I kid you not. They 'play' swimming pool in the living room and keep asking "mommy when does the pool open?" Um, June 1st. That's when the pool opens. Be patient, please.

4. Steroids! I've been miserable for the past several weeks (see here). So, I went back to the doctor's office yesterday and she put me on steroids for a week. I don't want to jinx my "recovery" but my itchy, dry skin feels a bit better already. And this makes me happy.

5. Movie night! Tonight, I am headed out with my sister and our friends to see "Remember Me" and I cannot wait. Yes, I know how it ends (I always read spoilers, I can't help it. I also read the last chapter of most books before I start the first chapter. I'm weird that way.). An eagerly anticipated movie with great friends who make me laugh so hard my stomach hurts the next day? Doesn't get much better than that.

Feel Good Friday - This week's fab 5

Spring is in the air ... at least for the next few days. I don't want to get too excited, because we all know Mother Nature has a nasty attitude lately - but sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-40s? I'll take it.

This week has been long, exhausting and not so much fun - the entire family has been sick - but I'm determined to find five things that made me feel 'good'!

1. Shamrock Shakes - Yep. Food is first on my list this week. Having bronchitis really puts a damper on my ability to actually TASTE anything - so I haven't wanted to eat this week. At all. And really, that is so NOT like me. (C'mon, have you seen me? I obviously like food.) But, I took the girls to McDonald's yesterday for lunch and let me tell you - that Shamrock Shake was the BEST THING I HAD ALL WEEK.

2. Things my kids say - This week every time I cough (which has been a lot), Emma looks at me and says "You OK mommy?" And Olivia's newest is: "You're the best mama in the whole world."

3. Knowing 'celebrities' have issues with their kids too - I was watching Good Morning America the other day and they ran this story on how you can get your kids to sleep in their own beds. Imagine my surprise (and I will admit, JOY) when the person doing the story (Cameron Mathison, soap star and DWTS contestant) was the person with the kids/sleep issue! And, George Stephanopouls admitted this is something he and his wife struggle with too! What? Famous people have problems? No way!

This is something we struggle with (and have been struggling with for several years). Olivia has a tendency to come into our bed in the middle of the night. We used to put her back in her bed and then that became a nightly struggle and no one was getting any sleep so now we just let her stay. In our bed. And no one gets good sleep. Which leads to cranky kids and crankier parents. But for some reason this week, Olivia has slept in her bed every single night. For the whole night! I think it's because she's been sick and is so tired that she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night. We'll see if it continues.

4. Antibiotics - Generally this would not be something that makes me happy, but this week I have to say I am happy to take antibiotics. I feel so much better today than I did on Monday, and it's all thanks to those little pills. Take that, germs!

5. The weather - Normally 40 and sunny would not make me so giddy. But it has been so cold and so miserable this winter, I can't help but be thrilled at the weather lately. I actually drove around with my car window rolled down yesterday (granted, I also had the heat on in the car!). The snow is melting. The birds are chirping. There are little buds on the trees. Spring is so close....

So there you have it - five things that made me 'feel good' this week.

Feel Good Friday - Let's try this again, shall we?

We interrupt the on-going blogging about my social media adventures for this week's installment of Feel Good Friday.

This week, I'm going to list 5 things that have made me happy in the past 7 days....so here we go:

1. My daughters make me joyous! When I came home on Saturday - after being gone since Monday night - the entire house was decorated. For my birthday. My girls had spent the week hanging streamers, coloring banners that said "Happy Birthday Mommy!" and well, it was unexpected and beautiful.

2. Hugs from my daughters. After missing them terribly while I was gone it was wonderful to snuggle with them.

3. My husband. I think we can all admit that we often take our spouses for granted and forget to say "thanks for being you"! My husband puts up with my grumpy moods, my Disney obsession, and my all around general nuttiness. And I love him for that. He was super dad last week while I was out of town - he even baked me a birthday cake (and cleaned the kitchen afterward!). I love this man.

4. New friends. Have you ever met a group of people who are more like long-lost friends than 'new friends'? I did. I spent 3 wonderful days with them last week. And even though I miss them something terrible, I am so happy to know them. You can meet them here.

5. Blogging. Yes, I said blogging makes me happy. While I AM in the midst of a slight 'identity crisis' as far as blogging goes - I'm looking for the "right" direction (and a better design for this here blog .... don't tell Blogger but I want to switch to WordPress ... I just don't know how!), I love sitting down and writing. I have ideas and plans for my blog....but when it comes to actually DOING IT...well, therein lies the rub. I will figure it out.

Happy Friday to you!

Feel Good Friday - It's just the beginning

I discovered a lovely blog this week - The Girl Next Door Grows Up - and "Feel Good Friday" is her weekly meme. After a rather long, exhausting week I decided to give it a shot.

The 'rules' are simple: You can ...

1. Make a list of 5 things that make you happy.
2. Write about something that made you smile this week.
3. Write about something you did for someone else that made them happy or laugh.
4. Post a pic about something you treasure so much it makes you happy every time you see it.
5. Write about your happy place or something that makes you happy, regardless of the type of week you're having.

And without further ado...my first 'feel good friday'.... I'm going with #5:

As I mentioned, I've had one of "those" weeks. I'm feeling frustrated about finances, my job search, my continued unemployment and the never-ending gray skies of Northwest Ohio.

However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for me.

There is something looming on the horizon that I'm so excited about...I can barely contain myself.

I've blogged about it before, but I'm going to talk about it again - it's the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.

I leave on Wednesday morning for three days at my happy place - Walt Disney World - where I'm hoping to meet many amazing moms/bloggers and where I'm finally going to meet some of my wonderful "Disney friends"!

I am looking forward to hearing amazing speakers and I'm hoping I come home with some great insight into how to make blogging and social media even more exciting. I am certain that it's going to be an amazing, fun filled, informative, INCREDIBLE three days!

And this, my friends, is what makes me feel good today.
